The Grand ArtWorks

During a period of thirty years Vasco Nasorri has created artworks that are appreciated and sold in Italy and abroad. He is known, above all, as an artist that is capable of creating artworks that are enormous. It is therefore note worthy to mention the most significant and important artworks done in his long career.

Behind each creation there is a story based on experience, knowledge and an exceptional manual dexterity, but also the will to experiment new techniques that are often interlocked. Today Vasco is a master in this and every new commission for an artwork becomes a challenge to make it more beautiful, valuable and charged with sentiment.

It is an monumental sculpture of enormous dimensions (cm. 300 x cm. 200) that proposes a bas-relief defined with an all round modelling, with volumes that sometimes evolves on 360 degrees and for this reason it is similar to a sculpture than a bas/high relief.
This artwork narrates the history of Christianity in Chiusi. Chiusi is a place of great archaeological and religious interest due to the presence of Christian Catacombs and the splendid Cathedral of Saint Secondiano, a third century basilica.

SAINT JOSEPH CHURCH OF AURELIO – ROME (ITALY) 1993-1997

In the church, located in Via Boccea in Rome, there are three great artworks done in a period of a few years. The first is placed behind the altar and is a grand bas-relief of enamelled ceramic with tenuous colours that adapt to the environment. It is also next to an important tapestry, which was realized in the beginning of the last century in the Vatican Tapestry Workshop and donated to the church by Pope Paul VI.

It depicts the story of the Saint, from the Workshop of Nazareth to the Kingdom of St. Joseph, and underling the life of Jesus. This artwork is comparable to an enormous Miniature Code page, where the written words "Ite ad Joseph" represent the theme and all around it there are the religious scenes. This spectacular artwork, surrounded by a series of big flowers and wreathes, made by Vasco in bas-relief enamelled and coloured, occupies an important place in the general setting of the Church,
It confers a symbolic and religious reference point.

To the left of the altar there is a chapel that exhibits another grand ceramic made by Vasco Nasorri. It is a representation of Giuseppe Marello , recently sanctified by His Holiness Pope John Paul II, with scenes that narrate his existence. Inside the church’s perimeter there are 14 bas-relieves in enamel coloured ceramic that depict The Way of the Cross, also done by Vasco Nasorri. Each ceramic measures cm. 80x50. His Holiness Pope John Paul II inaugurated this artwork in 1981.

This grand sculpture, in white enamel terracotta, is tall 400 cm. and placed on a metal cross above the altar of the new and beautiful Church in Lainate. This artwork was inaugurated in 1993 by Milan’s archbishop His Eminence Cardinal Martini. It is an imposing sculpture for its size and for the dramatic way it shows the sufferings of Christ crucified.
