Sacred Art

This is the chapter that shows the distinct artistic expression of Vasco Nasorri. When, more than thirty years ago, he got his first commission for an artwork of large dimensions it was a sacred depiction in ceramic placed in an important church in Lamezia Terme.
From that moment the artist’s curriculum and career were filled with very important and often grand artworks that depicted scenes from the Gospel, Crucifixes and figures of worship.
These artworks can now be admired in sacred environments located in Italy and abroad.

Vasco is working to a big al lavoro sulla grande Resurrezione del Cristo collocata a Chiaravalle (AN).

Today, without a doubt, Vasco is one of the most estimated and known authors of Sacred Art. To realize these artworks the artist is obliged to do a profound research of the significances of what it must represent. Therefore, every figure, every personage of the depicted scenes must express the drama and the solemn moment of Faith and are capable of evoking these emotions to the observer. The artist’s creativity is based on a profound study and knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. After all this research is done, Vasco gets into the scene and feels the martyrs sufferings and their Faith that he is now able to transmit into his creations.
From this research the first designs and sketches are developed in scale. The final design is effectuated on paper that shows the full size of the artwork and this will be used to create it. This is the way that Vasco’s artworks originate.

Using this method he has created numerous artworks like the grand alter-pieces and the baptismal font situated in Saint Joseph all'Aurelio in Rome , the enormous bas-relieves placed in the façade of the church in Brandizzo (Turin), the Way of the Cross in ceramic installed in Italy and abroad, the grand Sacred statues in Beirut’s cathedral or the stoneware colour mosaic pavement that embellishes the church square of the Beatitudes basilica in Israel.
These intense sensations that have inspired Vasco in his grand artworks can also be felt by observing the small crucifixes or the valuable ceramic glazed Madonna in his permanent exhibition workshop. Also noteworthy are the Crucifixes and sacred representations made with precious enamelled metals.
